It was known that Doherty had been writing new material for a solo record to follow up 'Grace/Wastelands', but this new material is now being used for a third Babyshambles release. The new material is expected to be performed during their string of UK dates, and an album due by the end of the year.
The tour begins in Glasgow on September 4th and ends on October 21st in Bournemouth, an extensive tour for a band that have not built a reputation on reliability. The tour reaches some smaller venues (Lincoln Engine Shed) as well as some larger ones (02 Brixton Academy) but they are sure to fill even the biggest dates on the tour with much hype surrounding the return of Peter Doherty.
What can we expect from the tour?
Peter Doherty appears to have mellowed with a combination of age and his surroundings. Since moving to Paris he is out of the headlines and can concentrate on what he does best.. make music. BUT, the return of Babyshambles could bring chaos back into the Doherty saga.
Other band members have worked on their own projects also, which could bring a new dimension of experience to the table when writing and recording the new album.
