One of NME’s bands of the year, Peace, have been shot into
the limelight after the success of their debut EP Delicious. On paper Cambridge
was just another stop on their remarkably long UK tour spanning months already,
and this is set to extend after being announced for the NME Awards tour along
with Django Django, Miles Kane and Palma Violets.
However, Cambridge was not
just “Another stop on the tour bus” as the pub venue crowd moshed the night
away to the acclaimed track ‘Bloodshake’ as well their latest single ‘Wraith’
which is set to appear on Peace’s debut album in the new year.
Peace’s psychedelic vibe rocked the Cambridge crowd, and
guitarist Douglas Castle clearly didn’t expect the reaction the band received,
stating “I thought that the Cambridge crowd would think too much into our
music, but they didn’t, they fucking went for it. I didn’t expect any moshing,
that’s for sure”. The Birmingham based boys are not only an extremely talented
group of musicians, leading the fight back against the pop chart nation that
has become, but are also a group that appreciate the fans they have gained in
their short period as a band.
Cambridge, as a well-known city does not have many big acts
visit, with only The Corn Exchange and The Junction as large venues. Peace @
The Portland Arms shows that there are some serious music enthusiasts in
Cambridge, and there needs to be more gigs in the city to fulfil their desire
to watch proper music at a proper venue.
Take a bow Peace, You vibe so hard.
