The gig featured T.W.i.N.S, Blisseyes and Casablanca.. here's what we thought of the acts.
T.W.i.N.S
T.W.i.N.S |
Exotic electronica duo T.W.i.N.S opened the night @ The Nest with some upbeat tunes and 'interesting' lyrics.
My attention veered away from their music, and centred towards the flashing drumstick, which tells me something about their music. "Ride the pony to the left, ride the pony to the right.." is a less than well written lyric and somewhat sums up T.W.i.N.S.
The frontman should however take solace from the situation, in that he worked the undersized stage to it's full potential, even coming into the crowd in an attempt to make them dance.
Blisseyes
Blisseyes |
The boys from Bedfordshire, who impressed us from day 1, took to the stage in Dalston with upmost confidence in their own abilities as a band.
Launching into their set with 'Manson', Blisseyes immediately looked at home on the tiny stage, working it to it's full on their first London gig.
Crosby (Lead guitar/backing vocals) showed how talented he truly is, with wonderful riffs and guitar lines throughout the 25 minute set, which is sure to attract some attention from labels in the near future.
Cook (Vocals/Rhythm guitar/Synth) displayed his songwriting abilities, especially during 'Graves', which he performed solo as the last track of the set. He also showed his dry sense of humour when the soundman cut the vocals before the band had ended.
We've said it before at Hard Vibes, and we shall say it again.. watch out public, these boys are one to watch.
Blisseyes' set list-
Manson
Hold
Male
Delicate
Ivory Dress (Aggro)

Graves
Casablanca
Casablanca |
With a Strokes esc sound, Indie/Pop outfit Casablanca were very impressive @ The Nest last night, excluding the vocals occasionally slipping out of time due to Wheldon (Vocals/Rhythm guitar) being unable to hear anything on stage, declaring "I can't hear a thing!" during their headline set.
The 4 piece band are already getting places in the music world, as they are on the same booking agency as the likes of Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead.. two of Britain's most successful bands.
'Good Life' was a personal favourite of Casablanca's performance, showing off Wheldon's well suited voice to the genre on a small outing for the band.
Casablana's set list-
Echoes In A Shallow Bay
Winter's Tail
Natalie
Drive
Good Life
